Hudson's Competency Model
The 5+1 Competency Model® = the centrepiece of our recruitment and talent management approach
We can customise our
5+1 Competency Model
® to fit your needs
Building on years of experience and a wealth of expertise in competency design and assessment, Hudson Talent Management developed the 5+1 Competency Model® in 1998. Our Research & Development Division undertook a detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis to develop a generic model that is designed to be adapted to any business environment.
The drive to create the model was borne out of years of working around competency models which were not always maximising on the potential of the approach. Our aim in developing the 5+1 Competency Model® was to create a toolkit which is:
- The foundation for linking organisational goals with people's behaviour based on the highest standards of behavioural research and analysis
- The foundation for making more objective and accurate assessments of behaviour
- The basis for an organisation-wide framework which recognises competency hierarchies between job levels as well as competency clusters
- Readily adaptable for our clients' organisations whilst retaining its validity
The competencies in the 5+1 Competency Model® are five competency groups which target key behavioural characteristics:
- Information Management
- Task Management
- People Management
- Interpersonal Management
- Personal Management
BEST PRACTICE COMPETENCY DICTIONARY
The extensive competency dictionary which underpins the 5+1 Competency Model® has been developed from extensive research with over 100 best practice international companies. Our competency model database has been validated by our own R&D experts based on its use with our clients since 2001.
ORGANISATION–WIDE LEVEL DIFFERENTIATION
The 5+1 Competency Model® organises competencies in a hierarchically ordered progression with the competencies in each cluster representing a logical growth, from junior up to senior levels.
HIGHER OBJECTIVITY FOR MORE ACCURATE MEASUREMENT
The 5+1 Competency Model® is designed for built-in predictive validity. Each competency at each level is companied by detailed behaviours that match against performance levels and make the job of carrying out objective assessments far more controllable and effective.
COMPETENCY PRIORITISATION
The 5+1 Competency Model® is specifically designed to rank competency and behaviour critically so that overall assessments are sensitised to what is most important in a particular role or organisation.
DESIGNED FOR YOUR BUSINESS
Alongside the 5+1 Competency Model® framework Hudson has designed a highly structured tailoring process to ensure that all profiles we develop incorporate specific organisation requirements.
Our process quickly develops profiles incorporating the organisation-critical elements drawn from our framework as well as those specific cultural elements which make organisations tick.
